welcome to
st. anne church

Serving East Moline and the surrounding area since 1919.

A destination for faith~

St. Anne is a faith filled community that embraces diversity and has adapted to the changing environment while maintaining its core Catholic values and identity. By remembering those who have come before us, we honor the legacy of the diversity of our founders who, molded by God’s blessings and the holy priests He empowered, joined together to establish our church.

Our Path to Our Lady of Grace

In 1919, Father William Cleary was sent by the Diocese of Peoria to start a new parish for the ethnically diverse Catholics in East Moline. Holy Name Parish (later changed to St. Anne) first met at Lyric Theater in East Moline in March of 1919 with around 200 parishioners. By fall of 1920, a church/school combo building was being built with services held on the first floor of the half completed building. The first mass was celebrated in the current building on Easter Sunday 1952. Father Cleary served as pastor for over 50 years, from 1919-1972, and the parish hall (built in 1963) was named in his honor.

“Our Path to Our Lady of Grace” will provide weekly updates and new information regarding the merger of St. John’s, St. Anne’s and St. Mary’s. As we venture on this new journey together, we ask Our Lady of Grace to pray for us!
